ITV viewers push red button for World Cup Quiz

£50 jackpot for World Cup fans

19 June, 2006 - ITV, JPM Interactive and OpenTV's PlayJam have launched a cash for questions World Cup Football quiz game. This Skill With Prizes (SWP) game developed jointly by PlayJam and JPM will be available to over 8 million homes receiving ITV Interactive services via satellite.

To score goals and win prizes, viewers need to correctly answer a series of questions on the World Cup, science and nature, show business and pop music, which are updated live as the World Cup progresses.

Each correct answer enables the player to pass the ball to another team member, gaining points as you go. Every goal scored gives the player a point bonus: more goals lead to greater prizes, and ultimately a jackpot. The jackpot depends on a number of viewers playing the game at any given time and can reach up to £50 per game.

To progress to the jackpot quicker, players can also take advantage of bonus cards. 'Substitute' card allows them to change the question category, 'long pass' decreases the number of questions required to be answered to score. The 'tackle' option gives a player the choice not to answer a question set by the opposition.

"The World Cup Football quiz game builds further on the long-standing relationship between PlayJam and ITV. The highly entertaining quiz format is bound to appeal to the many millions of viewers tuning into ITV's coverage this summer." said Mickey Kalifa, General Manager, PlayJam.

"As the World Cup draws near, we're offering a nation of football fanatics the opportunity to test their knowledge of the beautiful game," said Charles Walker, Managing Director, JPM Interactive. "We hope that it will make up for the disappointment of many of those fans unable to make it to Germany to support their country."

The World Cup Quiz game is based on JPM Interactive's patent pending Gameology system. Gameology tracks players' progress throughout each game so that content and questions can be adapted to each player's skill level.
