Intel Extreme Masters

$280,000 Continental Finals Europe to be held at CeBIT 2009.

Cologne, February, 25th 2009 – The Global Finals of the Intel® Extreme Masters take place at the IT trade fair CeBIT in Hanover, Germany. The Intel® Extreme Masters is the global league of eSports champions for World of Warcraft and Counter-Strike endowed with 750,000 US Dollar prize purse. Ten teams from America and Asia have already qualified for the Global Finals of the third season. 24 European Teams still compete to enter the Global Finals at the Continental Finals Europe at the start of the CeBIT trade fair. At CeBIT there is a total prize purse of 280,000 US Dollar.

The Continental Finals Europe takes place from March 3rd until March 5th. 24 European teams compete for their entry to the Global Finals on March 6-8th. The Global Finals are endowed with 200,000 US Dollar. The Intel Extreme Masters will be broadcasted live by ESL TV to the internet.

The games are played on Alienware systems by Dell's gaming group based on Intel® Core™2 Extreme processors. All events feature free gaming areas giving everybody a chance to play gaming blockbusters on the latest Intel processors: The Intel® Core™2 Extreme and the brand new Intel® Core™i7. Intel and Dell sponsor the global league of eSports champions. In addition to the title sponsorship of the Intel Extreme Masters, Intel supports the Intel Friday Night Games and the ESL European Nations Championship across Europe.
