Indievision organisation set up to support developers

Members to be provided with discussion outlet and professional advice

A new volunteer-based organisation has been set up with the aim of helping independent developers.

Indievision was founded by Richard Hill-Whittall and is an evolution of his ChaosEdge site, which was established to aid indie developer Mobigames in its legal battle to restore its EDGE game to the App Store.

The organisation will be similar to IGDA and TIGA, but membership is free. The site will offer a place for professional developers to discuss topics such as business development and funding issues, and an extensive list of contacts working in publishing, tax, law and outsourcing will be on hand to offer advice.

"During my involvement with ChaosEdge, I thought enough is enough; why is there not a group out there helping indies and offering free information, support and advice to help studio owners build up successful studios and avoid some of the pitfalls and immoral business practices in the industry," said Hill-Whittall.

Studios currently involved with the organisation include Exient, Relentless, Icon, Proper Games and Four Door Lemon. Companies and individuals within the development industry can find out how to join Indievision on its website.
