In brief: this week's game announcements

Plus what's hitting retail this weekend

Each week GamesIndustry.biz brings you a round-up of all the games announced over the last five days, plus a guide to the key releases due in stores this Friday.

Electronic Arts has dated the latest in its WWII franchise Medal of Honor. Medal of Honor: Airbourne will arrive on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC on August 31.

Nintendo's twin sku of Pokemon Pearl and Pokemon Diamond have sold over 1 million copies in the five days since release. So far, 155 million copies of Pokemon titles have been sold worldwide.

Microsoft has confirmed that Xbox 360 racer Forza Motorsport will be released in the UK on June 8. The game promises over 300 cars and new and improved levels of customisation.

Ubisoft has confirmed the development of The Settlers — Rise of an Empire, the sixth title in the series. Developed by Blue Byte, the game will be released this September.

Activision is to publish two sku's of the upcoming DS Transformers game. Transformers: Autobots and Transformers: Decepticons have been developed by Vicarious Visions and are due for release July 20.

Sony's popular Hot Shots franchise is expanding into other sports. Hot Shots Tennis is due for the PlayStation 2 in July 2007, developed by Clap Hanz.

Nintendo's DS game Wario: Master of Disguise is due for release in Europe on June 1.

Namco Bandai has confirmed cult series Katamari Damacy is to arrive on Xbox 360 and PS3. Beautiful Katamari is to bring new mini-games and multiplayer options to the franchise when it arrives this year.

Koei is bringing Dynasty Warriors DS: Fighter's Battle to Nintendo's handheld this July in North America.

The newly established publishing division of Virgin has announced DS title Dead & Furious. The game will feature a Wi-Fi co-operative mode and is due later this year.

Sega has announced Phantasy Star Universe: Ambition of the Illuminus for Xbox 360, PC and PlayStation 2. The sci-fi RPG sequel will be available to download and buy this Autumn.

Independent developer Introversion has announced the boxed release of it's third title, Defcon. The game will be available from retail in the UK on June 8.

505 Games has signed French developer Creative Patterns to work on two new DS games. The titles will be released later this year, but no other details have yet been revealed.

Bethesda's PlayStation 3 version of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is perhaps this biggest release this week, as the smash hit RPG finally arrives on Sony's recently launched console.

Sony's PSP also benefits from the release of a number of exclusive titles including Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth, Death Jr 2: Root of Evil, Burnout Dominator and Aces of War.

The PlayStation 2 isn't left out this week either, with Buzz: The Mega Quiz, Dancing Stage Supernova, Demon Chaos and the highly anticipated God of War II all due for release today.

Other titles hitting shelves today include Dawn of Magic and The Lord of the Ring Online: Shadows of Angmar for the PC, and Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship 2007 for the DS.
