IGDA announces new board appointments

Non profit software developer organisation the Independent Game Developers Association has announced several changes to its board, including the appointment of three new board members.

Dr. Michael Capps, President of Epic Games has been appointed treasurer, with Ubisoft's creative director Chris Crowell and Clarinda Merripen joining the organisation for the 2006-2007 term.

Big Huge Games president Brian Reynolds - a key contributor to popular tiles including Rise of Nations and Rise of Legends - has been appointed as the new chairperson, whilst casual games provider TikGames' VP Mitzi McGilvray has been re-elected as board secretary.

"I'm thrilled to be leading the IGDA Board at a time when the organization is capable of making great strides in helping, protecting, and encouraging game developers," Reynolds commented. "In particular, I joined the IGDA to help game professionals 'get a better deal,' and we intend to make progress on that."
