iFone Launches SEGA's Monkey Ball Mini Golf On Mobile Phones

iFone's first SEGA title launching across Europe

Manchester, January 9 2006 - iFone, the leading wireless entertainment publisher, today announced the launch of SEGA's Monkey Ball Mini Golf. This is the first title to be launched from the recent eight license deal with SEGA which includes classic gaming titles such as Sonic the Hedgehog and Chu Chu Rocket.

Based on the mini games within the original Super Monkey Ball SEGA console game, Monkey Ball Mini Golf takes your monkey character through 18 holes of mini golf. Each shot taken will cost the player one banana, though more bananas can be collected along the way giving you more shots in which to complete each course.

Players can choose from four memorable monkey characters taken from the original game. Within each level, players can select from an array of different monkeys with various strengths and attributes appropriate to the numerous levels available. Not only this but players can compete against other players in small multiplayer games that focus on short bursts of fun!

Since the launch of SEGA's Super Monkey ball across several console platforms it has sold over 200,000 units in the UK alone and currently sits in the top ten all formats and PS2 Charts.

Enda Carey, Marketing Manager, iFone said, "We are really excited to be working with SEGA - they have an amazing catalogue of iconic gaming brands. Monkey Ball is a great licence and I know it will go down really well with mobile gamers. This is just the first of many SEGA titles coming to mobiles."

Darren Newnham, Business Development Manager for SEGA Europe added, "Monkey Ball Mini Golf is the first title from SEGA Europe's mobile team. It's simple, easy to pick and up and play control method means anyone of any age can play this game and have fun on their phone and that's what SEGA is about, bringing the fun to mobile"

iFone partnered with SEGA in January to launch mobile content across Europe. Under the terms of the deal, iFone will unleash eight of SEGA's gaming titles for download onto mobile phone devices. SEGA Europe has partnered with iFone to establish control of the European market whilst working with SEGA Corporation and SEGA of America in driving the release strategy to meet the needs of global consumers.
