Guild Wars tops 4 million sales

MMO publisher NCsoft has revealed that the Guild Wars franchise has sold over four million units worldwide since its release just over two years ago.

MMO publisher NCsoft has revealed that the Guild Wars franchise has sold over four million units worldwide since its release just over two years ago.

"ArenaNet's fantastic work on Guild Wars has helped make NCsoft the leading online gaming publisher in with world," commented Robert Garriott, CEO of NCsoft North America.

The series consists of Guild Wars, Guild Wars Factions and Guild Wars Nightfall, and is due to be joined by what NCsoft calls the "first true expansion", Guild Wars: Eye of the North, on August 31.

"Four million units sold is an impressive number and demonstrates that Guild Wars is a proven franchise," added Bob McKenzie, senior VP of merchandising at GameStop.

"The Guild Wars franchise delivers an outstanding gaming experience and is clearly an important part of our PC games offerings," he said.
