Golden Joystick Awards 2010

Moves to a swanky new central London venue this Oxtober.

30/03/10 – Future, the special-interest media group, today announces that the Golden Joystick Awards will move to a brand-new central London venue in 2010 – the Westminster Bridge Park Plaza, the city’s biggest new hotel in a generation.

Taking place from 11am on Friday, 29th October – the 28th Annual Golden Joystick Awards and the after show party; will take over three floors of the stunning contemporary, design-led hotel, including the 1,200 square-metre ballroom. Situated on London’s South Bank – the Westminster Bridge Park Plaza is in walking distance of Waterloo and Westminster Stations, with stunning views over the Palace of Westminster.

Attracting over 1.25m votes in 2009 – the Golden Joystick Awards was named the “World’s Most Popular Videogames Awards” by Guinness World Records. Now in its 28th year, the move to a new venue will enable Future to further develop and grow the event, which saw world famous producer and turntablist DJ Shadow play an exclusive set at last year’s infamous after show to celebrate the launch of Activision’s DJ Hero.

Emma Parkinson, Event Organiser, Golden Joystick Awards, said:

“We are excited about moving the Joysticks to this new, exciting venue, with thrilling possibilities for both the event and the UK games industry. This sleek modern hotel lends itself nicely to some of the attention-grabbing plans we are working on with potential industry partners for 2010. With our position as the world’s most popular videogames awards confirmed by Guinness, it’s time for Future to further increase the Joysticks’ reach and exposure across the industry, gamers and mainstream media.”

Table sales are now open, with early bird prices of £2450 for a table of ten. For more details, contact Pauline Hosillos on 0207 042 4211 or Pauline.Hosillos@futurenet.com.
