GCA Games Convention Asia

GCA Conference (GCAC)

(September 8 - 12, 2010)

LEIPZIG, Germany and SINGAPORE - December 17, 2009 – LMI Leipziger Messe International (LMI), the organizer of GCA Games Convention Asia, today announced that its fourth convention for interactive entertainment and digital media will take place September 8-12, 2010 in Singapore. This time the convention will take place over five days with three days dedicated to the conference. September 8th, the first conference day, is reserved for the second D.I.C.E. Summit Asia organized by the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences. The GCA Conference then takes place from September 9-10. The Business Area combined with the Business Matching is open alongside the conference from September 8-10, 2010.

The exhibition where local and international exhibitors show their latest computer and video games, hardware, software and accessories will be open to the public on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, September 10-12, 2010.

“This year’s success of the symbiosis between the D.I.C.E. Summit Asia and the GCA Conference has proven to us that a developer conference is not just wanted, but also needed in the Asia-Pacific region,” said Jorg Zeissig, Managing Director of LMI Asia. “By extending the conference for an extra day, we can ensure that all relevant business topics, from Art & Design to Business Development, Technology and Production are covered and the schedule is convenient for attendees.”

"The Academy is thrilled to continue its partnership with LMI Asia for D.I.C.E. Summit Asia in 2010. We look forward to having our leading game-makers participate in a forum that reflects the dynamic nature of interactive entertainment from the Asia-Pacific region,” said Joseph Olin, President of the AIAS.

In 2009, more than 650 delegates attended keynote sessions and panel discussions offered by more than 50 international speakers. Over the course of four days, 102,500 visitors came to see the latest in video and computer games in the exhibition hall.

The GCA consists of four pillars: the GCA Conference, the Business area, the Matchmaking area and the public exhibition with regional game tournaments and various stage programs. Discussions have begun with all relevant industry representatives, organizations and government associations in the region to ensure an even more suc-cessful GCA 2010.

About Games Convention Asia/GCA Conference

GCA Games Convention Asia is the "Digital Media Gateway of Asia." Described as the only event in the Asia-Pacific region enabling the interactive entertainment and digital media industries to network and interact with publishers, developers, distributors and corporate clients while showcasing their latest products and services to the public, GCA serves as the platform for Asian publishers, developers and distributors to present their work on an international level. The Games Convention Asia Conference (GCAC) also acts as an entryway for companies seeking to enter the Asian interactive entertainment market.

About the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences

The Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences (AIAS) was founded in 1996 as a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the advancement and recognition of the interactive arts. The Academy’s mission is to promote and advance common interests in the worldwide interactive entertainment community; recognize outstanding achievements in the interactive arts and sciences; and conduct an annual awards show (Interactive Achievement Awards) to enhance awareness of the interactive art form. The Academy also strives to provide a voice for individuals in the interactive entertainment community. In 2002 the Academy created the D.I.C.E. (Design, Innovate, Communicate, Entertain) Summit, a once yearly conference dedicated to exploring approaches to the creative process and artistic expression as they uniquely apply to the development of interactive entertainment. The Academy also oversees Into The Pixel, a juried exhibition of art from games, and this year started the Randy Pausch Scholarship fund for students in the games industry. The Academy has more than 20,000 members from the games industry: publishers such as Electronic Arts, Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo, as well as developers Bioware/Pandemic, Day One Studios, Epic Games and Insomniac Games.
