EA's highly-anticipated Rock Band will not be released in Europe until the first quarter of 2008, developer Harmonix has revealed.

During the EA Games conference in Leipzig today, the developer said the delay was due to localisation issues, with content needing to be tailored for each territory on disc and via downloads.

EA has yet to reveal a price for the game, which is expected to come in multiple packages due to the bundling of separate guitar, drum and microphone peripherals.

The publisher also confirmed a PlayStation 2 version of the game, to be released at the same time as the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions.

Rock Band will be released this side of Christmas in North America.
