Games Industry Recruitment Update

PROGRAMMERS

A leading first party PS2 developer in the South East and East Anglia is currently recruiting for a Programmer experienced in C++ and specifically PS2 VU coding and optimisation. Applicants should have three years or more experience, and the ability to work to tight deadlines on a top project. [More Info]

If your skills are more suited to handheld gaming, then there is an exciting opportunity for a GBA Programmer working at contract rates from home on a high profile handheld racing game with a cutting edge 3D engine, which is being implemented in a number of titles. Elsewhere, a top independent developer is looking for a Senior Programmer for their tools and technology department working in London. Applicants will need a very strong understanding of PS2 architecture (including DMA, vector units, GS) and a good knowledge of OpenGL and/or DirectX amongst other things. [More Info]

GAMES DESIGNERS

Also in London, this company is looking for a Lead Designer to work on a third person survival horror title based on an existing movie franchise with a major publisher for PS2 and Xbox. Creative thinking is a must, as is experience designing at least two console games to completion, and you should be able to work industriously under your own initiative. [More Info]

Another Designer position is available at a Midlands firm, who are looking for someone with experience on at least one free roam title from beginning to end. Programming experience is a preference, but creative and analytical skills are a must, as is an avid interest in computer games. [More Info]

ARTISTS/ANIMATORS

If you fancy jetting off to fairer climes, then an overseas posting to a leading PC and PS2 developer as Art Director could be just the thing. Obviously you will need to be creative and inspirational, overseeing the visual direction of a game while leading the art team from concept to completion. 3ds max and Photoshop skills are preferred. If Direction isn't your thing, then this Midlands company is looking to fill multiple roles including Environment Artists and Animators. There is also a position of Creative Lead available, requiring top management and communication skills, previous experience in a similar role and texturing and Maya skills. Meanwhile, environment artists will need excellent Maya skills and previous large-scale project experience, and there are also positions for Texture Artists and Trainee Maya Environment Artists. MANAGEMENT/OTHER

Also this week, a major international publisher is seeking a London-based External Executive Producer to head up a small team working on several multi-format games across various genres. [More Info]

Finally this week, another leading international publisher is looking for a Translation Co-ordinator to join their team in Central London working on website content and getting it into 10 languages. The successful applicant will need to be the main point of contact for the territories' language requests and localisation requirements, with strong organisational and communication skills, fluency in one or more languages (Dutch, Danish, Finnish or Norwegian a plus) and the ability to cope with pressure.
