Gamer.tv takes on magazines with new audience figures

The latest audience figures published by specialist videogames television production firm Gamer.tv show that its shows now have a wider audience reach in the UK than games print magazines.

Figures from the Broadcasters' Audience Research Board for the four weeks from November 15th reveal that Gamer.tv's self-titled flagship show on the Bravo cable and satellite channel attracted over a million viewers.

A further two million viewers tuned into When Games Attack, another Gamer.tv show which reintroduced former GamesMaster host Dominik Diamond to videogames television.

Gamer.tv has been quick to compare these figures to the latest circulation figures for UK magazines published by the Audit Bureau of Circulation (ABC), which shows that specialist videogame magazines sell fewer than 600,000 copies a month combined.

"These audience figures are fantastic news for the whole games industry," according to Gamer.tv executive producer Richard Wilcox. "It's clear we're making programming video gamers want and that we're now a viable alternative to the specialist games press. Gamers and TV viewers have known this for a while, now the industry should too."
