GAME WIRE: Namco Releases New Sniper Elite Gameplay Footage
Namco Hometek today released a new gameplay footage for "Sniper Elite." Coming to the PlayStation®2, Xbox®, and PC this September, "Sniper Elite" is a realistic sniper simulation that takes place in the final days of World War II at the heart of the European Theatre in Berlin. Below is a transcript of a conversation held between the game's main character, Carl Fairbourn, and his superior officer on his first evening in war-torn Berlin.

I have made contact with my German associate. Nobody suspects the disguise and my alibi is water tight - my true identity as an American soldier is safe for now. My informant has told me that the Red Army will be breaking through Berlin tomorrow in search of Nazi military documents. My mission is to make sure they do not come close to any nuclear secrets but I suspect I will have my hands full just staying alive. I cannot believe how much Berlin has been devastated by the war. I remember coming here with my father as a child and walking these peaceful streets filled with people. Now I hear nothing but screams as buildings crumble and planes soar overhead.
My sniper school training has served me well. I came across a Russian patrol this afternoon, composed of two infantrymen and a small tank. I quickly took cover in the rubble of a fallen building and took aim at the two soldiers. The wind was blowing to the east, and I was about a half mile away from them, so I adjusted my aim just a bit to the top left of my crosshairs. Taking a deep breath to calm my nerves, I pulled the trigger and my bullet found its mark. The two solders were lined up such that the bullet passed through them both! I quickly reloaded and took aim at the tank's gasoline canister. This is the only major weakness of these Russian monstrosities, and I took aim again and fired. The terrible machine exploded in flames and I continued to my waypoint. I do not know what awaits me tomorrow but I do know I am prepared for anything. I will report to you again once my mission is accomplished.
