Leading UK videogame retail chain GAME Group has been awarded the Customer Focus Award at the National Business Awards ceremony in London, and was highly commended for the Business of the Year award.

The group, which operates over 350 stores in the UK and Ireland with a further 110 across continental Europe, was one of 120 companies nominated for in 24 different categories at the 2003 awards, which are considered to be the UK's "Business Oscars".

"We're honoured and delighted to have won this coveted award," enthused GAME's chief executive designate and CFO Martin Long. "It's a fantastic tribute to the continuing hard work of all our staff to give every customer the best possible service.

"Customer service has been the main focus of the company from the outset. We're pleased that this has been recognised in such a high profile arena, and also hope that as a result of winning this award, the games industry will achieve a more authoritative profile as the mainstream entertainment industry, that it is today."

The award was presented to the company during a ceremony and gala dinner in London earlier this week.
