Game Connection Level Up program seeking 2009 applicants

Scheme gives five newly founded companies the opportunity to pitch their games to publishers

The Game Connection Level Up program has opened its doors to submissions from new games studios, with an all-expenses paid trip to Lyon to meet with major game publishers on offer for five winners.

Now in its third year, the Level Up program offers the chance for five newly founded companies to attend this year's Game Connection Lyon for free.

"In these struggling times many talented professionals decided to create their own companies, and the Level Up program is the opportunity for them to be in front of publishers and other developers and make the deals securing their company's future for a couple of years," said Pierre Carde, managing director of Connection Events.

The Game Connection Lyon event, which takes place from December 8-10, describes itself as "speed dating for business-focused game makers". Over the course of three days, attendees are given opportunity to conduct an average of 27 meetings with developers, publishers, distributors and service providers, to discuss their products.

Full details of the Level Up submission process and criteria can be found on the official GC site. Companies entering must be less than two years old and have not attended a Game Connection event before.

The deadline for applications has been set at September 14, and the winners will be chosen by an advisory board.
