Galaxy on Fire

Redesigned for the iPhone and available now. For it.

- for immediate publication –

Hamburg, Germany, 19 March 2009 – FISHLABS made mobile gaming history with Galaxy on Fire™. FISHLABS made a name for themselves around the world with the multi-award winning Sci-Fi action-adventure with breathtaking 3D graphics and over 20 hours of playing time. At the time, the outer space spectacle involving the hero Keith T. Maxwell made quite a splash with top ratings and still has a loyal fan community of over a million players today.

In a huge galaxy of hundreds of planets and space stations, players take on the role of a mercenary with the Terran Armed Forces in the fight against the aggressive alien Vossk. After first demonstrating their skills doing some donkeywork, players are quickly lured to escort and combat missions. Captured goods can be used in the trading system to equip the player’s spaceship with dozens of different weapons, shields, and drives. During the course of the story, which is accompanied by lots of dialogues and animated 3D cutscenes, players encounter shady characters over and over again, offering sometimes dubious, sometimes extremely lucrative missions.

The majority of the game has been completely revised so that this milestone in mobile gaming can display its full glory on the iPhone. Thus, all objects, textures, and backgrounds have been completely reworked and harmoniously staged with realistic, real-time lighting. The soundtrack has also been recomposed with elaborate instrumentation. Dozens of sounds have been integrated for various weapons, explosions, and many other effects. In the new survival mode, players must face a horde of enemy fighters and hang on as long as possible. Every enemy destroyed provides players with points and new energy, while ‘combos’ result in many more points.

‘The extraordinary computing power, the huge display, and the motion sensors of the iPhone are ideal for GOF. We have been able to pull out all the stops and create a universe with unbelievable graphical density,’ says Michael Schade, CEO of FISHLABS GmbH. ‘Combined with the controls using the motion sensors, the result is an extremely realistic feeling of flying. Galaxy on Fire™ is hardly to recognize on the iPhone. It plays like a completely new game.’

Galaxy on Fire™ is expected to be available for the iPhone und iPod touch at the end of March for 4.99 Euros (5.99 USD). The official trailer provides a first impression at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZVLiu2_96Fs
