Future Publishing appointments

Tim Clark becomes Editor-in-Chief for games portfolio; James Binns heads up websites.

Future, the special-interest media group, today announces changes to strengthen the creative development and commercial management of its market-leading Games portfolio, and position the group for a year of expansion and development.

Tim Clark takes up the position of Editor-in-Chief for the games portfolio, following several successful years as Editor-in-Chief at Future’s Official PlayStation Magazine.  Tim came to Future in 2002 as Online Editor, moving up the ranks to take the helm in late 2008.  His new role will see him managing content across a diverse portfolio, which includes brands that operate on page, online, on disc, on console and on stage.

Working alongside Tim, Graham Dalzell is promoted to Group Art Editor.  Graham joined Future in 1998 as Art Editor on GamesMaster before joining Official PlayStation 2 Magazine.  An expert in magazine craft, Graham has successfully overseen the redesign of several key Future brands such as Total Guitar and Digital Camera magazine.

In addition, James Binns, Head of Edge International and PC Gamer, will expand his current role to include GamesRadar.com, CVG.co.uk and Future’s official console websites officialnintendomagazine.co.uk and oxm.co.uk. He will continue to oversee the PC Gamer and Edge brands, as well as exploring further digital opportunities.

Simon Maxwell, Group Publisher for Future’s Entertainment portfolio said:

“The two new editorial appointments are an important strategic step for the Games portfolio. With the experience and expertise that Tim and Graham bring with them we will see our brands go from strength to strength and further cement their sector leading status.

James has unrivalled experience and understanding of the games business and his recent brilliant work launching the all-conquering PCGamer.com makes me confident that he will take these properties to the next level of their development. We will be appointing an Associate Publisher to assist James in the near future as we look to expand the business and drive the brands forward.”

Furthermore, Mark Wynne, former Art Editor of Official PlayStation Magazine has been promoted to Senior Art Editor, and will head up a three-man art team working across the Edge brand. Steve Gallagher has been promoted from Deputy Art Editor to replace Mark Wynne as Art Editor on Official Playstation Magazine.

Ben Wilson remains as Editor of Official PlayStation Magazine in an expanded role, assuming some of Tim Clark’s previous responsibilities. Nathan Ditum, Associate Editor of FirstPlay, Future’s on-console publication, will report directly into Ben Wilson.
