Funkitron and Sekkoia Connect the Perfect Pieces to Bring Blokus to the PC

World-renowned board game to make PC debut in Q4 2007

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

BOXFORD, MASSACHUSETTS - July 18, 2007 - Funkitron, a widely respected publisher of casual games, today announced a partnership agreement with Sekkoia, the publisher of the popular board game Blokus, to develop an official version of the game for the PC platform. The strategy game has been a worldwide hit, winning almost all the existing awards in the industry since its debut in 2000, including the Mensa Select Award in 2003 and the 2004 Teacher's Choice Award. Blokus is currently scheduled for release in Q4 2007.

As a turn-based strategy game, Blokus follows very simple rules. Each player starts with 21 polyominoes, shapes consisting of one to five squares. Each player places his/her pieces on the board in turn, with the purpose of placing a maximum number of pieces on the board. There is one essential constraint: the pieces of the same color must touch each other by one or more angles, but must never touch at an edge. Players must invoke a clever strategy to extend their territory, all the while attempting to block an opponents' path. But remember, each piece is different and every move can be decisive!

Thanks to the simplicity of its rules, Blokus appeals to a very wide audience. Children from age five grasp it very quickly; but thanks to its infinite strategic dimension, Blokus also appeals to communities of the most advanced strategy players, who often compare the game to Chess or Go.

"Blokus is the #1 selling board game on Amazon and easily one of the most addictive and popular board games of our generation," said Dave Walls, President of Funkitron, Inc. "Sekkoia has successfully combined the elements of fun and strategy into a game that is adored by players of all ages, and we look forward to extending the games' popularity into the homes of PC gamers around the world."

"Funkitron has developed and published a wide variety of successful casual game titles and we think of them as a perfect partner to bring Blokus into the world of casual PC games," said Pierre-Jacques Jouars, Managing Director of Sekkoia. "The game has caught on like wildfire in a very short amount of time, and we expect that the PC title will have immense appeal to our loyal fan base, as well as to the growing audience of casual gamers."
