Raylight's Wii game up for an award at the Cartoons on the Bay festival in Italy.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

9th March 2010

The “Cartoons on the Bay – Pulcinella Awards 2010”, Italy’s premier TV and Cross-Media awards festival, has announced its shortlist for Best Interactive Animation award. Included are UK Publisher Reef Entertainment and leading Italian independent developer Raylight with their extreme sports game Free RunningTM on Nintendo WiiTM.

The international television and multimedia animation festival is now in its 14th year and for the first time has included entrants from the videogames market and their contribution to the mainstream entertainment medium.

Competing against games such as Diabolik: The Original Sin and Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, Free RunningTM earned the nomination for its blend of fast-paced gameplay, compelling animation and graphical content.

Peter Rezon, CEO of Reef Entertainment said, “This is Reef’s first award nomination and we’re thrilled Free RunningTM is in the running! We’ve prided ourselves for its unique take on the Free Running sport and fantastic realisation of its moves and tricks and to be recognised for best interactive animation is a great honour for us and for Raylight.”

Massi Di Monda, CEO of Raylight said, “We’ve worked very hard on this game for Nintendo Wii to fully utilise the controllers but also to graphically capture the true essence of the Free Running sport, which looks as good in real life as it does in-game! We’re very proud to be nominated, especially with such esteemed company, and it is a great boost for the Italian development community as it shows we can compete on a global stage.”

The Cartoons on the Bay – Pulcinella Awards 2010 will be announced in April 2010.
