The Game Initiative has announced plans to hold a Game Writers Conference alongside the Austin Games Conference and the Women's Game Conference events taking place in October.

The GWC will last for two days and is being organised by a special advisory board whose member include Microsoft's Diana Fos, Ubisoft's Clint Hocking and Hal Barwood of Finite Arts. The conference chair is scriptwriter Susan O'Connor.

Topics under discussion will include gaming narratives, the new language of games, working with developers and designers, managing team dynamics and writing for massively-multiplayer online games. There will also be a writing workshop where attendees can brainstorm solutions to common challenges faced by game writers.

The Game Writers Conference will be held on October 26-27 in Austin, Texas - to register, visit the event website. Tickets cost USD 145 before August 12 and USD 165 after, rising to USD 195 on site. All those who attend the GWC will also have access to the Khronos Developer University, the TechPavilion, the Women's Game Conference and the Austin Game Conference.
