Ngmoco founder Alan Yu to speak at Netherlands event.

UTRECHT, The Netherlands – March 1, 2010 Alan Yu, founder of the company behind some of iPhone's biggest games, will deliver a speech during the Festival of Games in the Netherlands, June 3 and 4. Ngmoco -- which the company prefers to spell as "ngmoco:)" -- is the most well-known publisher of iPhone games, and released hit titles such as Rolando, Topple and Star Defence.

Yu's official title within the company is that of Vice-President "artist & Repertoire", which means he decides whether or not a game should be published under the ngmoco:) label. Before founding ngmoco:), Yu worked for the worlds biggest games publisher, Electronic Arts. In preceding years he was responsible for the Game Developers Conference in the US.

Another big name on the list o f industry leaders speaking at the Festival of Games is Martin de Ronde. He co-founded Guerrilla Games (Killzone) and is now the man behind OneBigGame. This publishing label is making international headlines with its mission to publish games of which all the proceeds go to charity.

Today the Festival of Games also announces Paul Heydon, director of investors of Avid Partners will talk about financing game companies. David Christensen, ex-Vice President of Sony Online Entertainment, will talk about the launch of FreeRealms. This popular free-to-play MMO recently reached its milestone of eight million user accounts.

The line-up of speakers during the Festival of Games consists of even more big names. Earlier the organization announced keynotes by industry icon David Perry (who will launch a revolutionary new technology later this year) and Ian Livingstone, the man behind Lara Croft.

A very special guest will open the festival. The organization can't yet reveal anything about his identity, except that he made a game that is known by "literally everyone".

The Festival of Games takes place June 3-4, at the Jaarbeurs in Utrecht. It is organized by the Stichting Nederlandse Gamedagen (NLGD) and is made possible by the ministry of Economic Affairs, the province of Utrecht and the city of Utrecht. Oprichter succesvolste iPhone gamesproducent komt naar Nederland

Ngmoco's oprichter Alan Yu houdt toespraak tijdens Festival of Games

UTRECHT, 1 Maart 2010 - Alan Yu, oprichter van het bedrijf achter de meest succesvolle iPhone games, houdt een lezing tijdens het Festival of Games. Ngmoco -- of “ngmoco:)” zoals het bedrijf het zelf schrijft -- is de bekendste uitgever van iPhone-games en scoorde met games als Rolando, Topple en het Nederlandse Star Defense.

Yu vervult binnen ngmoco de rol van Vice-President “Artist & Repertoire”, met andere woorden: hij beslist welke games zijn label wel en niet uitbrengt. Voor hij van start ging met ngmoco werkte Yu bij 's werelds grootste gamesbedrijf, Electronic Arts. Nog daarvoor was hij jarenlang de eindverantwoordelijke voor het grootste congres ter wereld op het gebied van games: de Game Developers Conference in de VS.

Bovendien heeft de organisatie ook Neerlands bekendste gamesproducent vastgelegd. Martin de Ronde, mede-oprichter van het bedrijf achter wereldhit Killzone, staat momenteel wereldwijd in de belangstelling vanwege zijn nieuwe gamelabel OneBigGame, waarvan de opbrengsten naar goede doelen gaan.

Naast de spekers Alan Yu en Martin de Ronde maakt de organisatie vandaag ook bekend dat Paul Heydon, de directeur van investeerder Avista Partners, een verhaal houdt over het financieren van gamesbedrijven. David Christensen, oud-Vice President van Sony Online Entertainment, houdt een lezing over de lancering van het populaire online spel Free Realms (een gratis MMO met inmiddels acht miljoen spelers).

De line-up van congres tijdens het Festival of Games bevat naast Alan Yu en Martin de Ronde nog meer grote namen. Eerder kondigde de organisatie al aan dat industrie-icoon David Perry een toespraak komt houden (hij lanceert nog dit jaar een revolutionaire techniek) en ook Ian Livingstone, de man acht er Lara Croft, houdt een lezing.

Het festival wordt geopend door een wel heel bijzondere gast. Wie dat is mag de organisatie nog niet zeggen, wel wil ze prijsgeven dat de man een game heeft gemaakt die iedereen, “maar dan ook echt iedereen” kent.

Het Festival of Games vindt plaats op 3 en 4 juni in de Jaarbeurs in Utrecht.
