Ex-Infinity Ward talent flock to Respawn Entertainment

Former Modern Warfare team join West and Zampella at new studio

A significant number of former Infinity Ward staff have joined Jason West and Vince Zampella's new studio, Respawn Entertainment.

According to various Linkedin, Twitter and Facebook profiles, seven ex-Modern Warfare team member have now joined their former bosses at the studio bank-rolled by Electronic Arts.

Mackey McCandlish, Jon Shiring, Todd Alderman, Rayme Vinson, Chris Cherubini, Mark Grisby and John Paul Messerly, have all taken up similar positions to their roles at Infinity Ward in animation, engineering and game design.

Speaking to GamesIndustry.biz earlier in the month, West and Zampella would not be drawn on recruitment plans for the new studio, but clearly have been in talks to poach Activision staff.

"We anticipate making big blockbusters titles so we'd want a team to support that. But specifically, for a super-team, what size is it? That stuff is way too early," said Zampella.

West and Zampella are currently locked in a bitter legal row with former employer Activision, which is overshadowing their efforts to start afresh for their new backers, EA Partners.
