Esports entertainment platform Players Netwrk launches today

Serial entrepreneur Stratton Sclavos lines up big names from the worlds of traditional sports and esports

The new entertainment platform Players Netwrk launches today, bringing together talent from esports and real-world sports.

Players Netwrk will begin with a COVID-19 charity livestream, featuring appearances by athletes from the NBA's Sacramento Kings and New Orleans Pelicans, and the NFL's Cleveland Browns and New orleans Saints.

The programme will also include live music performances and appearances from leading esports athletes, offering a template for the platform's ongoing plans.

Players Netwrk was founded by Stratton Sclavos, the serial entrepreneur who founded Vision Esports and was once CEO of the San Jose Sharks.

The company's investors include Daylight Holdings, Klutch Sports Group, and the WME talent agency -- a pool of contacts that will support a content strategy that includes live streaming, unscripted series, and original programming.

A press release issued by Players Netwrk described the ambition to unite prominent figures from real-world sports and esports on a platform where "fans will be able to interact, play against and discover other fans from overlapping fandoms they didn't know existed."

Players Netwrk will launch today, with a two hour stream at 5pm Pacific Time. There will be more programming on Friday and Saturday this week.
