EA veterans form Arctic7 studio

Newly formed video game developer aims to "look beyond the perceived confinements of traditional games development"

Yesterday EA developer alum Igor Efremov, Mark Rizzo, and Alan Van Slyke announced the launch of their new game development studio Arctic7.

With its headquarters in Austin Texas the company said it has global development teams and has a number of projects slated for this year as well as an unannounced title.

The developer said that it was established to "look beyond the perceived confinements of traditional games development and include explorations of creative and technical intersections."

Each of Arctic7's founders separately have held long-running careers in video game development.

Efremov began his over 20-year games industry career at EA and prior to co-founding Arctic7 he served as chief commercial officer of Keywords Studios.

Before the formation of the new studio, Rizzo had previously served as global operations director of Keywords Studios. Throughout his work history he's held a number of roles at various companies such as Sperasoft, Sony, and EA.

During an over two-decade long career, Slyke has held senior positions at a number of game development studios such as Epic Games, EA, and Microsoft Studio.

"The industry has seen a seismic shift in recent years as the world of gaming and game-based technologies has opened up to new audiences and industries," said Rizzo.
