EA reveals Pandemic's next title

Mercs Inc to follow The Saboteur from slimmed down, relocated developer

Following the recent news that EA studio Pandemic was to be significantly trimmed to a "core" team, and relocated to sit under EALA, the publisher has announced that the developer's next title will be the next game in the Mercenaries series.

Entitled Mercs Inc, it will be developed in its new base of Playa Alta once The Saboteur has shipped on December 8.

"We are very excited to announce a new instalment in the popular Mercenaries series because it demonstrates our continued commitment to Pandemic's rich catalogue of intellectual properties," said Nick Earl, senior VP and group GM at EA. "From the studio at EALA, a core creative team is forging new ground and conceptualising new ideas for this exciting franchise."

Pandemic was originally acquired by EA alongside Bioware in a deal which saw CEO John Riccitiello buy up his former company, Elevation Partners, but while Bioware is working on multiple key titles for the publisher - including Dragon Age, Mass Effect and Star Wars: The Old Republic - Pandemic's fate has been somewhat different.

No specifics on platforms of release dates for Mercs Inc have yet been released.
