EA officially completes acquisition of Jamdat Mobile

Following the approval of the Jamdat Mobile acquisition deal by shareholders last Friday, the deal has been officially completed - making Electronic Arts one of the world's biggest mobile content publishers.

Following the approval of the Jamdat Mobile acquisition deal by shareholders last Friday, the deal has been officially completed - making Electronic Arts one of the world's biggest mobile content publishers.

The USD 680 million acquisition deal sees Jamdat CEO Mitch Lasky taking over as EA Mobile's senior vice president in charge of global operations. Michael Marchetti will take on the role of vice president and chief operating officer.

EA Mobile has seven offices around the globe, employing more than 400 members of staff. The company's content portfolio now includes smash hits such as Tetris and Bejeweled, along with familiar EA properties like The Sims, Need for Speed and FIFA.

"The EA Mobile portfolio of titles now features the best in class of leisure, sports and action games - all built on state-of-the art technology," said Lasky.

"Our combined management, sales and creative teams will allow us to innovate and grow the mobile games category worldwide."

EA chairman Larry Probst commented: "We welcome the Jamdat team into the EA family with great enthusiasm. Bringing the talent, technology and expertise of the world's leading mobile entertainment publisher into EA is a win for game players and positions our company for further growth in this important market."

As announced earlier this week, stockholders will receive USD 27 cash for each Jamdat share owned. EA plans to publish more than 50 mobile games within the next year.
