EA continues new IP push with Dead Space

Electronic Arts is continuing its commitment to new intellectual property, with the officially announcement of survival horror title Dead Space.

Electronic Arts is continuing its commitment to new intellectual property, with the officially announcement of survival horror title Dead Space for Xbox 360 and PS3.

Developed by the studio at Redwood Shores, best known for taking on EA's movie projects such as Lord of the Rings, The Godfather and James Bond games, Dead Space is expected in autumn 2008.

"This team has worked on some tremendous properties but we have always wanted to work on something that was darker and creepier," offered Glen Schofield, executive producer on Dead Space.

"We are all such huge fans of the horror and sci-fi genres; we wanted to create the most terrifying game we could, and keep the player on the edge of his seat the entire time."

EA has increased its focus on developing and publishing original intellectual property, with new titles Skate, Hellgate: London, EA Playground, Crysis, Boogie and Army of Two all due before the end of the year.
