DX Studio

Licence cost set to increase from May 1st ("so buy now" presumably being the subtext).

6th March 2009

Having held the price of their licenses at the same level for over three years, Pinewood Studios based software developers Worldweaver Ltd have just announced that prices for commercial licensing of their 3D platform DX Studio will increase from 1st May 2009.

The price increase is reportedly due to extra investments the company has made in expanding and improving the feature set of the DX Studio engine and is timed to coincide with latest upcoming release (version 3.1), full details of which are due to be announced next week. Prices are set to go up by around a third, with the top level commercial pro license rising from 375 to 500 GBP.

“Despite the current economic climate, DX Studio sales have continued to perform strongly”, said Worldweaver CFO Bob Sterling. “DX Studio will continue offer exceptional value for money to anyone interested in creating commercial games and simulations, and the additional revenue will go straight back into developing an even richer feature set for future users. The move also allows us to keep down the price of our non-commercial licensing, thus ensuring access for talented new users (such as student and indie developers) at a very affordable price.
