DJs CAUSE EVEN MORE CHAOS

Brutal Sports Title Snapped Up By Britsoft Publisher

Digital Jesters has scooped another title to add to its already impressive 2005 portfolio as it announces the June release of Chaos League: Sudden Death for PC CD-ROM.

The game, developed by Paris-based Cyanide Studios, takes up where the original Chaos League left off, bringing with it a host of improvements and enhancements which make take the real-time, role-playing strategy sports title into a whole new bloody battleground.

Chaos League is a sport in which the rules are simple: there are none. The object of the game is to score as many goals as possible - through whatever means necessary: hand-to-hand - or feet to face - violence, magic or weapons.

Whilst the original game's premise remains: train and manage a team of nine assorted characters into the leanest, meanest, weirdest Chaos League side the world has ever seen, Sudden Death takes things a whole lot further. New races - each with new and unique abilities have been thrown into the world, expanding the options available to each manager. New grounds bring friendly or hostile crowds into the mix (complete with their own form of influential spells), and 19 additional hero characters are available for selection. The commentary from the original game - so often praised for its unique, brutal humour - has been doubled, ensuring an even trashier atmosphere within the blood-boiling confrontations. And additional in-game options - such as auto-casting spells, and the ability to wallop the referee if you disagree with a decision - increase the strategic element even further.

In multiplayer, opponents can goad each other via microphone, and fresh tournament modes can be managed by players themselves to create almost limitless leagues. For those initially too scared to enter the arena themselves, a new spectator mode offers compulsive viewing.

"Chaos League was a fresh face in the world of real-time strategy sports games," says Leo Zullo, marketing director, Digital Jesters, "bringing a sense of humour and cartoon violence to the genre like never before. Sudden Death is bigger, better, faster and more bloody in every sense, and we're sure it'll appeal to both old and new players alike."

Chaos League: Sudden Death will be published in the UK by Digital Jesters in June, for PC CD-ROM, priced £19.99.

Note to editors: Founded in 2003, Digital Jesters is a British-based publisher of computer and video games. Set up by the duo responsible for launching and establishing the Sudden Strike and Cossacks series of games in the UK, the firm's remit is simple: to source and publish the best games available. The company's commitment to originality resulting in it snapping up the original TrackMania game from French developer Nadeo and DJ's ethos of community development strategy resulted in the game becoming one of the sleeper hits of the year. A tie-in with record-breaking yachtswoman Ellen Macarthur for the firm's second release Virtual Skipper 3 ensured the game received widespread attention among the elusive non-gamer, and firmly placed the publisher on the map. The firm has enjoyed three top 10 PC hits, one of which is from the developers Cyanide, creators of Pro Rugby Manager and now DJ is expanding its operation to cover additional territories. It has also published its own comic book to widespread critical acclaim.
