A regular series of video game industry events has started in Australia;

organisers keen to include international content:

23 August 2005, Melbourne, Australia

Melbourne, 20 July 2005 - Dissecta is pleased to announce its third video game industry event, "Don't Be Distracted By PR!", to be held Tuesday 23 August 2005 at the Australian Games Innovation Centre, in the Atari Building, Melbourne.

Dissecta is organising monthly events in Melbourne Australia. Dissecta founder Tim Richards said "Dissecta events provide the opportunity to discuss the video game industry and game making with depth and consistency." "We are keen to provide a regular forum to share views and opinions, and to encourage not just game developers, but also allied and other professionals such as filmmakers and business professionals, to better understand game development."

Dissecta events are open to the public; the first event was held June 2005, entitled "Next Gen War: Reports from the E3 Frontline", and this month's event was "Top Gear Rally: Exposed."

Game industry professionals interested in contributing to Dissecta events by sharing their views on topics of interest, are encouraged to contact Dissecta. Dissecta is happy to arrange telephone interviews, excerpts of which can be played during events, or show pre-recorded videos and game trailer exclusives.

With respect to the August event, Tim commented "the ability to influence public opinion, is critical to the success of any game or interactive entertainment product, and we are very pleased to discuss this in Don't Be Distracted By PR!". "We have Morten Brodersen, CEO of Third Wave Games, as our key speaker who will provide a unique insight into development and PR, as they discuss their new game War World".

Mr Brodersen has over 10 years experience in the video game industry, including working at Rare Ltd where he developed the 3D engine used in the 6 million plus selling Banjo Kazooie, and also worked on Donkey Kong Country 2 and Perfect Dark II. Third Wave Games' first title, to be released very soon, is a PC based mech combat game. Mr Brodersen will preview the title and provide a case study on their self-publishing activity.

The 23 August event will start at 7pm and run for 1.5 hours, including an audience Q&A. The event will be held at the Australian Games Innovation Centre, Melbourne, Australia.
