Digital Interactive Symposium Announced

The University of Edinburgh will be hosting the Digital Interactive Symposium: Edinburgh on August 15, the day after the Edinburgh Interactive Festival finishes.

The University of Edinburgh will be hosting the Digital Interactive Symposium: Edinburgh on August 15, the day after the Edinburgh Interactive Festival finishes.

The event will feature a number of sessions looking to combine the worlds of video games and academia, and will aim to "generate new insights into the industry and culture of interactive digital media, computer games and virtual worlds."

Jessica Mulligan will present the keynote, and other sessions will include Computer Games and Innovation, Regulating Virtual Worlds, and Industry and the Role of Education.

Speakers include William Garood, strategy manager at Ofcom, and Chris Francis, from government programmes at IBM.

Registration for the event costs GBP 50, or GBP 40 for anybody who also registers for EIF, while full-time students can attend for free.

The event is being organised by Hanna Sommerseth, of the University's Visual and Cultural Studies Unit, and Ren Reynolds from terranova.blogs.com.
