Rocksteady Studios, Quantic Dream, Realtime Worlds, EA DICE and Codemasters are just some of the developers hoping to pick up one the most respected industry awards in the business.

Now in its eighth year, the Develop Awards is the only event on the games industry calendar to recognise the creative and commercial innovations made by European games developers.

This year's event takes place on July 14th at the Hilton Metropole Hotel in Brighton. Over 500 industry from the games development community will gather on the night for a celebration of the industry's creative genius.

Sony leads the way with nine nominations for its various European teams in the UK (London, Cambridge and Liverpool). 'Split/Second' and its Brighton-based developer Black Rock has five nominations, with Parisian outfit Quantic Dream (developer of 'Heavy Rain') and London studio Rocksteady ('Batman: Arkham Asylum') just behind that on four nominations each.

Other key nominees from across Europe include Unity (Denmark), Channel 4 (UK), Bigpoint (Germany), Amanita Design (Czechoslovakia), Remedy Games (Finland) and Realtime Worlds (UK). Global technology leaders like Epic Games, Havok, Dolby and Emergent are also in the running for prizes.
