Conference organiser The Game Initiative has announced that the fourth annual Austin Game Conference is scheduled to take place on September 7th-8th 2006 in Austin, Texas.

This year's event will focus on online game development, according to the Game Initiative, and is designed to address "the specific needs of developers and publishers creating online games for mobile, PC and console platforms."

Nearly 2000 industry professionals attended the 2005 event, which was held alongside the second annual Women's Game Conference and the first ever Game Writers Conference. These events will return in 2006 in further expanded formats.

"The Austin Game Conference continues to be at the forefront of the rapidly changing online game market, and provides critical and timely information to developers seeking to stay ahead of the curve," said Christopher Sherman, executive director of Game Initiative.

"AGC facilitates and promotes the growth of the online game industry, and it is the single best opportunity for industry professionals to stay current on best practices, network with their peers, and get business done."
