Corporate Citizenship Company of the Year

Triangle Game Initiative in the running.

RALEIGH, N.C., October 12, 2010 -- The Triangle Game Initiative, a non-profit trade association for the North Carolina interactive entertainment industry, today announced it has been selected as a finalist for the 2010 NCTA 21 Awards in the category of Corporate Citizenship Excellence. Winners will be recognized at the annual awards gala on Wednesday, November 10 at the Sheraton Imperial Hotel in Durham, N.C.

The NCTA 21 Awards are recognized as North Carolina's most prestigious awards, celebrating innovation and excellence in the state. This annual showcase honors companies and individuals in 21 categories who represent the best and brightest in technology and business.

The theme for this year's event is " 0021: Licensed to Excel" and is expected to be attended by more than 600 business and technology leaders from across the state.

"When the leaders of our region's game industry founded the Triangle Game Initiative, it was with the vision that interactive entertainment and immersive technologies would be a key sector in North Carolina's future," said Alexander Macris, president of the Triangle Game Initiative. "For three years our all-volunteer staff of industry leaders, technologists and professionals has worked hand in hand with the state's economic development community to make that vision a reality. We are very thankful for their efforts, and proud to be a 2010 NCTA Award finalist."

The Triangle Game Initiative (TGI) promotes the state's interactive entertainment industry, including immersive technologies; video game development and publishing; and game media through conferences, tradeshows, summits and other promotional activities aimed at attracting other game companies and employees to North Carolina. TGI aims to create a community of industry professionals within the Triangle that can share best practices and develop a hub of knowledge that can attract the best talent and companies to the state.

"The finalists for this year's 21 Awards truly represent the best that North Carolina's technology industry has to offer," said Brooks Raiford, president and chief executive officer of NCTA. "The Triangle Game Initiative has distinguished itself as an exemplary corporate citizen for North Carolina, and we are proud to recognize them as a finalist for 'Corporate Citizenship Company of the Year.'"
