Codemasters signs up with Get Games

Colin McRae series, Op Flashpoint and Overlord join digital distribution service

Codemasters has revealed that it has signed up with PC download service Get Games, with key titles from the publisher's portfolio being added to the platform.

Among the games included in the deal are the Colin McRae Rally series, Operation Flashpoint: Cold War Crisis and both Overlord titles.

Get Games is a joint venture between Mastertronic MD Andy Payne and Eurogamer, and relaunched its website last week.

"Codemasters has worked with Mastertronic for many years in PC value republishing," said Jeremy Wigmore, VP of publishing for the EMEA region at Codemasters. "We have the utmost respect for their approach, technology and systems and consequently we are very much looking forward to working with them in the field of digital distribution."

"Bearing in mind Eurogamer's amazing readership and reputation for high-quality editorial, we are very excited to be working with the Get Games platform. We know it will be a great resource for all the games in our PC catalogue."

And Payne added: "Codemasters has consistently produced great games and we are really proud to have been appointed as a partner. We have some really innovative plans not only to sell their games to a digital audience but really go to town on giving their products a big share of our voice.

"Expect fresh ideas and a different approach from Get Games," he added. An interview with Andy Payne on the challenge of evolving a digital distribution platform is available now.
