Climax clarifies 'studio closure' reports

UK developer Climax has spoken to GamesIndustry.biz to clarify reports that the company has closed its Kingston studio.

UK developer Climax has spoken to GamesIndustry.biz to clarify reports that the company has closed its Kingston studio.

Climax boss Karl Jeffery has said that the lease on the building in Kingston had finally expired, following completion of projects that finished over a year ago.

"We finished the last game project in Kingston over a year ago as reported at that time. This week we finally vacated the office space as our lease ended. The only people affected are a receptionist and an IT guy," he said.

Far from a radical shake-up of the company, Jeffrey said that the plan has long been to reduce the company to one studio in one location - "it makes things a lot easier," he said.

Jeffrey also reiterated the fact that he owns 100 per cent of the company, and that developer 10tacle Studios does not own a chunk of the group, even though it announced intentions to buy a stake last year.
