Child's Play Charity raises over $225,000

The fifth annual Child's Play Charity dinner auction, begun by the creators of the Penny Arcade comic strip, has raised over USD 225,000

The fifth annual Child's Play Charity dinner auction, begun by the creators of the Penny Arcade comic strip, has raised over USD 225,000.

More than 400 industry leaders and community enthusiasts attended the event last Tuesday in Seattle, Washington to bid on 16 announced lots and three secret auctions to support sick children in more than 45 hospitals in six countries around the world.

A UNSC-branded duffel bag loaded with rare Halo merchandise fetched a bid of USD 5,800 when Bungie Studio's Frank O'Connor added the Recon Armor - a rare digital upgrade for Halo 3 players formerly only available to Bungie employees and select community members.

A lot of The Orange Box merchandise donated by Valve, with an impromptu addition of a plush weighted companion cube and office tour, sold for USD 2,500.

Combined with other donations, Tuesday night's auction has brought the total for this year's drive to more than USD 850,000.

Over the past five years, Child's Play has raised over two million dollars in toys, games and cash for sick children through an ongoing online toy drive and annual charity auction.

The organisation is currently developing a worldwide network of beneficiary Children's Hospitals in order to brighten hospital stays for children internationally.
