CAEAA Asks: Who do YOU Want as this Year's Host?

Canadian Awards for the Electronic and Animated Arts Launches "Blog" for Industry and Public Opinion on Who Should Host This Year's Show

For Immediate Release

VANCOUVER June 8, 2006 - With a little over 3 months left to go until "the big night", the producers of the Canadian Awards for the Electronic and Animated Arts (CAEAA) need a Host and have decided who better to ask than the industries they're awarding and their millions of fans.

"Please. No rap stars," begs Holly Carinci, Producer of the CAEAA. "That's been done!" Joking aside, the CAEAA is dead serious about relying on the input from the three industries they are awarding - Canadian achievements in talent development (New Media and Animation Art Schools), animation, and video game development - and the public to choose the perfect Host for their inaugural awards show taking place on September 14th in Vancouver. A blog has been set up and launched today at http://caeaa.livejournal.com to gather comments and suggestions from around the world on the perfect host as well as to collect suggestions for presenters and broadcasters. "In my opinion, Canada is Hollywood for video gamers and a lot of animation fans," explains Carinci. "I want to know where people want to see these awards and who they want to see present them, then we'll try to get it done!" Carinci has a favourite for Host but isn't saying. "Our web designer, Richard Chapman, put a picture up on the blog so he's given me away."

The CAEAA just opened their award submissions on Monday, June 5th. Canadians living anywhere in the world are invited to submit their work providing they prove they are still Canadian, which is something most awards do not offer. Submission deadline for nominations is Friday, July 14th.

Sponsors already behind the Canadian Awards for the Electronic and Animated Arts 2006 include EA, Ubisoft, A2M, Autodesk, Foundation 9, Studio B, Voicebox, Nitrogen, Bardel, Western Imperial Magnetics, David Kaye Productions, Budget Monks, British Columbia Film, Sheridan Institute, VanArts Vancouver Institute of Media Arts, Selkirk College, The Art Institute of Vancouver, and Dean Lauzé of D'Arts.
