Burning Crusade boosts Vivendi profits

The World of Warcraft franchise has once again helped Vivendi to impressive financial results, with the media company reporting Q1 profits of EUR 771 million, a increase of 22.8 per cent.

The World of Warcraft franchise has once again helped Vivendi to impressive financial results, with the media company reporting Q1 profits of EUR 771 million, a increase of 22.8 per cent.

Net income also shot up by 32 per cent to EUR 932 million.

The company's game division saw revenues surge by 117 per cent compared to the same period last year, to EUR 291 million.

"The strong increase is primarily driven by the successful January release of World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade," said the company in it's annual report.
