Bungie: Publishing deal for new non-Halo game is "close"

Publisher for the studio's new IP to be announced shortly

Bungie's secret, non-Halo next game is still not signed to a publisher, the studio has revealed, but a deal is "close".

When asked by Eurogamer TV whether a publishing partner had been secured for the new game, Bungie multiplayer designer Lars Bakken suggested talks are drawing to an end.

"I think internally we'll know sometime soon. I don't handle these things, but I'd imagine we're going to know way before we make the public announcement of who's handling that. But sure, I think those talks are, I guess, close," he said.

Since ending its partnership with Microsoft and going independent at the end of 2007, the studio has continued to work on games in the Halo franchise.

At the end of last year it made public the news it is working on a new non-Halo IP, however nothing more has been heard of the project since then.

The studio's next released game will be Halo 3: ODST, which is coming to Xbox 360 on September 22.
