The Walt Disney Company has published its financial report for the financial quarter ending December 31st, revealing that Buena Vista Games has helped to boost revenues in its Consumer Products division.

Disney posted overall revenues of USD 8.6 billion - an increase of 2 per cent over the same period last year - but operating income was down 1 per cent to USD 1.36 billion, while net income dropped 7 per cent to USD 686 million.

However, the Consumer Products arm of the business saw a rise in revenue of 1 per cent, due in part to growth of Buena Vista Games. BVG also contributed to the 17 per cent increase in operating income, which stands at USD 270 million.

"I am encouraged by the solid momentum in our earnings and the financial and creative strengths that underpin these results," said Disney boss Robert Iger.

"We continue to focus on our strategy of creating the finest content, embracing leading edge technologies, and strengthening our global presence and in doing so, we are confident in our ability to deliver long-term success across each of our businesses."
