Blizzard sues MMO Glider creator

WoW developer sues creator of program that automatically performs key tasks

Blizzard has sued Michael Donnelly, creator of the MMO Glider program which automatically performs key tasks in World of Warcraft.

According to a BBC report, the company is alleging that the software bot both infringes the company's copyright and damages the game.

In court documents, lawyers stated that "Blizzard's designs expectations are frustrated, and resources are allocated unevenly, when bots are introduced into the WoW universe, because bots spend far more time in-game than an ordinary player would and consume resources the entire time."

According to Donnelly, more than 100,000 copies of his program have been sold.

He says his tool does not infringe upon Blizzard's copyright because no copy of the Warcraft game client software is ever made.
