Blitz reveals open day popularity

Blitz Games has revealed that its open day scheme received a record response from people wishing to visit the company, tour the studio and speak to staff.

The open days, due to take place later this year, were far more popular than last year's events, and although applications are now closed, it will be seen as another positive message for the games industry that the popularity of potential careers in videogames is rising.

During the London Games Festival in September last year, a record number of attendees had the opportunity to discuss potential career options with a number of exhibitors, including Blitz.

The company's education liaison officer, Kim Blake, was pleased with this year's haul: "The open days have definitely struck a chord with lecturers and students from all corners of the UK. We're delighted with the response.

"The open days are providing a valuable insight into how games are made and how a studio operates. This is information that canât be obtained any other way.

"Blitz is determined and committed to working with the educational institutions to continually improve the courses on offer and thereby the quality of graduates entering our fast growing industry."

This year's open days are taking place in March, with specific days for lecturers and students, at the company's base in Leamington Spa, UK.
