BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger

UK national championship launched in conjunction with gamerbase, with a telly, consoles and other goodies to be won.

To celebrate the release of BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger in the UK on 2nd April, Zen United/Arc System Works are teaming up with gamerbase to host the official launch tournament to crown one player BlazBlue 'Rebellion' UK Champion!

Gamerbase will be holding an entire week of free play sessions at all gamerbase venues from April 2nd. Here the staff will be able to get you started with bootcamp style training to familiarise yourself with the fighting engine and mechanics... not only this, but the game will also be available to play in any of the 40 gamerbase lite pods around the country in hmv stores! So there’s many great ways to get familiar with BlazBlue.

The competition will be fierce, including Manchester’s own Scott "Kaworu" Harrison, who currently holds the BlazBlue #1 title from his performance at SuperVersusBattle last year from Neo Empire.

There are many superb prizes to be won including a 42” HD TV, Xbox 360 120gb Elite consoles, BlazBlue officially branded Hori fightsticks, BlazBlue Limited Edition art books, T-Shirts, hmv Vouchers. Gamerbase’s Fraglotto system will be used so you stand an even better chance of winning. The Fraglotto system enters all the players into a draw, just for winning a round!

It all starts on the 10th April with the regional warm up tournaments which grant the top 3 free entry and a seeded seat in the main tournament in Manchester. Regional seeding sessions will be held in each gamerbase supercentre around the UK. The grand Final tournament will be held on 24th April at Gamerbase Manchester. And “Casuals” will be available throughout the whole day from 9am.

The highly acclaimed BlazBlue features aerial combat combos and unique High Definition 2D graphics which set it apart from the other fighting games. For those new to fighting action BlazBlue has been specifically designed so it’s easy to pick up at the beginning, and an ever increasing depth introduces new and more demanding skills.

• The game features an all-original goth-anime cast with intricately detailed hand drawn High-Definition character sprites. And they are a unique bunch indeed.

• A plethora of defensive and offensive options at your disposal - take advantage of barriers, counter assaults, rapid cancels, barrier bursts, ukemi tactics and distortion drives to turn the tide of battle.

• Drive your way to victory! Use the unique “Drive Attacks” specific to each character to decimate your opponent.

• Story mode tells the back story of each of the BlazBlue characters, with incredible cut scene animations and music to support it.

• Online Battle - Train your skills online through ranked and player battles
