Bigben spending spree continues with Kylotonn acquisition

The Paris-based racing studio joins the family

Publisher Bigben Interactive has fully acquired another games development outfit.

The firm is now sole owner of Kylotonn, the Paris-based studio behind multiple licensed racing titles. Bigben was already a big shareholder in the business. The studio will continue to be managed by founder Roman Vincent and Bigben promises 'large autonomy so that he can concentrate on technical innovations and the on-going improvement of the recognised quality of its productions.'

Kylotonn is best known for racing games such as TT Isle of Man, V-Rally 4 and WRC. Bigben also own the Test Drive IP.

It's the latest development acquisition from rapidly expanding Bigben, which last week bought Eko Software for €8.5 million ($10 million). The firm also picked up French development studio Cynaide for €20 million ($24 million) in May.

The three acquisitions are part of a strategic move from Bigben to ensure a regular supply of software for the company to publish. The firm also hopes to reduce costs by adding experience to the group, and improve the quality of its video game output.

Bigben now operates six development teams, with 250 employees between them. Its publishing unit boasts 35 employees.

"By increasing our shareholding in Kylotonn, we validate the merits of this strategic acquisition initiated in 2017 and warmly welcome the talents of experienced developers which we have already fully appreciated over many past projects," says Bigben CEO Alain Falc

"The rise of Bigben in the segment of racing games remains a major strategic axis for our future growth.

Kylotonn's Vincent added: "We are proud to become fully part of the Bigben group for which we have developed games for more than 10 years. The longstanding cooperation with Bigben, a token for stable and smooth relations between the teams, our specialization on 2 wheel and 4 wheel off-road racing games as well as the use of prestigious brands represent competitive advantages for the Group that our integration will strengthen."
