Beagle missions

Fifth one now available: "Galapagos (Part 1)".

Beagle Galapagos Mission

The people at VPRO, the radio station organizing this world journey, are very worried about the fact they don't get any news from the people on the clipper "Stad Amsterdam" of late. The last tweets were published just before they were about to cross the equator for the second time in one day. Quite a happening and they were planning a big "crossing the line" party. That's more than 2 weeks ago now and the ship seems to have disappeared since. Will you be able to find the lost ship?

Part 1 is available now.

The Team During 2009 and 2010 FScene is publishing a new series of free Flight Simulator X Missions, in cooperation with a team of old FS boys: Ruud Faber, Jaap van Hees, Chip Barber and Francois Dumas are all 'veterans' of the international flight simulation 'scene' and have put their spare time, enthusiasm and talents together to come up with this "Beagle" series.

In the Galapagos Missions you can enjoy the work of another two masters of FS creativity:

Chuck Jodry, allowing us to use one of his beautiful Jeep creations. Justin Tyme, who developed for these missions a great Galapagos Islands environment.

The Theme The missions are all Inspired by the 35-part Radio/TV series of VPRO, a Dutch Radio/TV station, to celebrate Charles Darwin's 200th birth year and the 150th anniversary of his publication of "On the Origin of Species". They follow Charles Darwin's journey on the "Beagle" (1831-1836). Packed with Scientists, writers and artists the clipper "Stad Amsterdam" has left Plymouth on the first of September 2009 for an 8 months' journey around the world.

Join their adventure, and lend a hand! Supplied by air they need new instruments, medicines and food. As aircraft captain you are responsible for resupply. You'll fly many different aircraft. Over many different seas.

4 more free FScene "Beagle" missions available:

Beagle Spain (Part 1) This is the start of the series. Packed with scientists, writers, artists and officials, The Clipper Stad Amsterdam has left Plymouth (GB). For a journey around the world. You join this journey in your own way, making yourself usefull, giving air assistance. You meet your co-pilot Chip, also a highly experienced pilot and make your first flight together. To get the feeling and to meet the ship at sea, you start the mighty engines of the Grumman Goose.

Beagle Spain (Part 2) You are situated at Airport La Coruna in Spain, your plane is the trustworthy grumman Goose again. At La Coruna you load Medicin Pods for a sistership The City of Hamburg and several cases with new instruments, spare parts, food for the Clipper Stad Amsterdam. Bad weather, much rain, low ceiling. This exciting occasion is a great opportunity to "challenge your skills" as pilot in command.

Beagle Brazil (Part 1) After a pleasant evening with your buddy Chip in Rio de Janeiro's nightlife, you find yourself very unsure and hardly able to face the situation you are in. Your buddy Chip is the first to react and from there things take a surprising turn. The weather is not too bad. The Clipper Amsterdam is waiting for you. The Douglas DC3 is very reliable. But.. how are reliable you?

Beagle Brazil (Part 2) What is it you are so attracted to in Rio's Copacabana, the classy beach district?, the big hotels? Or is there more? Anyway, this day also starts in Rio. You got your briefing from "the company" yesterday afternoon already and instructions are as clear as a bell. Stay alert, be there for us. We need your help, not only for the usual transport. There's more. Lost things, old things, very old things... Your plane is the reliable - bush - Maule.

Only for experienced players? No, the missions are not meant as challenges. 'Just for fun' is a better description. Although we got the impression they are by and by becoming a bit more complicated.

Read more about it in the missions PDF flyer or have a look at the intro video at the YouTube FScene channel. Download them and get connected to the project at the FScene web site.
