Bayonetta

"Bayonetta Re-Envisioned" art contest enters voting stage.

On July 22, 2009, SEGA® of America, Inc. announced the launch of “Bayonetta Re-Envisioned,” a user-generated art contest at WizardUniverse.com centered on the heroine of SEGA’s BAYONETTA™ video game. After a month and more than 100 submissions, Wizard and SEGA selected their favorite entries which are now posted at www.wizarduniverse.com/bayonettabestofbest.html for fans to vote on. While the final decision will be determined by PlatinumGames, the developers of BAYONETTA, the votes will be used to assist the judges in determining the Grand Prize winner, as well as the top 10 runners-up, who will each be awarded with an autographed copy of the game. The winners will be announced in October, 2009.

BAYONETTA is a cinematic, stylized action game from the famed creative mind of renowned game developer, Hideki Kamiya of PlatinumGames. Bayonetta, the game’s protagonist, is a graceful, gun-wielding witch who awakens after being entombed in a coffin at bottom of a lake for 500 years with no memory. As players embark on this quest with Bayonetta, they will begin to unfold the mystery behind her past and her purpose in the game, such as why she fights against angels and other countless fantastic enemies. In combat, Bayonetta uses weapons, magic, acrobatics and her larger-than-life hair to redefine the look and feel of the action genre.

BAYONETTA™ is slated for release in January 2010 for Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system and PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system. For game details, visit www.sega.com/platinumgames/bayonetta/.
