Babel hired for Xbox test program

Brighton-based outsource service specialist Babel has been selected by Microsoft as one of only three officially approved European test houses working with the current generation Xbox console.

As part of the Xbox Authorized Test Program, Babel will offer an extensive range of functionality, localisation and Technical Certification Requirements checks along with peripheral compatibility, network emulation and benchmarking.

"If publishers and developers require third-party testing for their titles prior to submitting to Microsoft for certification, we are encouraging them to talk to the Authorized Xbox Test Vendors who will be the only test houses supported by the Xbox Game Quality team," said Quality Program manager John Barr.

Babel MD Algy Williams added: "We are very pleased to join the program. It's a great milestone for the company, and provides us with the tools and training necessary to deliver the highest quality service to our clients."

The new deal will allow Babel to test games for the current-gen Xbox only - the company said that no agreement has yet been decided regarding the Xbox 360, which is slated for a worldwide launch in November.

Babel already provides a range of localisation, audio, print, QA and marketing services to clients including Microsoft, Sony, SEGA, Nintendo and THQ.
