Atari annual report delayed

It's not just games that miss their release dates in this industry

Publisher Atari has informed the US Securities and Exchange Commission that it will be 15 days late with the filing of its annual report for the year ended March 31 2003.

We had originally expected to see results from the company today, so the new deadline for results is July 15. Shares in the company closed down 5.1 per cent on the Nasdaq following news of the delay.

This years results are unlikely to feature the figures which people are really interested in, however - namely final figures on the performance of Enter the Matrix. Atari recently revealed that 2.5 million copies of the game were sold in just over a month on sale. However, with over four million copies of the title shipped at launch, this leaves inventory of 1.5 million on retail shelves.
