THQ to publish Blood Bowl in UK

September 18 release for big European seller on PC; Xbox 360 version due later in Q4

THQ has told GamesIndustry.biz that it will be releasing acclaimed title Blood Bowl in the UK next month, for PC, DS and PSP, with the Xbox 360 version due later in the fourth quarter.

The title has already been a big seller in Spain, Germany and France since its release in June, and THQ hopes to repeat that success when the game is released on September 18.

"We saw Blood Bowl as a great opportunity to further strengthen our Games Workshop portfolio with a title that has a long and rich history in the UK market," said Jon Rooke, head of marketing for the UK and Europe.

"THQ has a great history with Games Workshop and an unrivalled insight into the Games Workshop videogame consumer  through our many years publishing titles from the Warhammer 40,000 universe."

The company plans an extensive marketing campaign for the title to "laser target the Blood Bowl fan in the UK," said Rooke. As well as showing the game to consumers at Gamescom next week, Blood Bowl will also feature at Games Workshop's GamesDay at the Birmingham NEC Arena, as well as a separate press event later this month.
